Leyline Shaman was a proof-of-concept I made years ago, for a little action RPG idea I had, using RPG Maker MV. As you'll see in the video, the main gimmick was having to navigate labyrinths while having to strike different enemy types from specific directions. Had I pursued this idea, I would have made the combat way more robust, but this would have required a wholly different game engine and lot of skills I simply don't have. Still, I was reminded I made this during a recent conversation about alternative combat systems in indy games, so I figured I'd just go ahead and post a run of it.
That is an interesting idea for combat. I have seen some recreate a link to the past 1 to 1 in RPG maker funny enough. at some point I Did think of using an extension to allow Zelda like combat.
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking it out!
DeleteThere's a lot more options for scripts and plugins now since I tried to put this one together. MV was pretty new at the time I cobbled this in, so there wasn't much mod support yet, but I think there are fully-featured ARPG plugins for even MZ now. Could be worth checking out these days.
